ELECTRICFIL Corporate history
1936 : Founding of Electricfil by Johanny Thollin
- 1936 - 1960 : After electric wires, a range of cords was developed for household appliances (irons, electric blankets, etc.).
1952 : Entry in the automobile world with ignition-wire sets
- 1960 : Mandatory interference regulations for automobiles in France pave the way for the Bougicord® ignition wire, patented worldwide.
- 1968 : Electricfil moves into its new site in Beynost (near Lyons, France).
1975 : The shift to sensors
- 1977-1980 : Inductive sensors (VRS) for engine management.
- 1985 : Temperature sensors.
- 1987 : Transmission sensors with integrated electronicse.
- 1995 : Non-contact position sensors.
1996 : Sensor production worldwide
- Launch of two subsidiaries, Electricfil Corporation in Detroit (U.S.) and Unifil Elektronik with a production unit in Istanbul (Turkey).
- New sensor plant in Beynost.
- Progress in ignition and diesel-injection applications.
- Creation of an Electricfil Australia sales office in Melbourne.
1999 : From products to systems
- Development of mechatronic subsystems including sensors and connections, paving the way for solutions to meet future technological needs.
- 2002 : Electricfil Automotive mass produces integrated solutions (sensor + magnetic target + sealing).
2004 : More international production sites
- Launch of two new production units in Wuhan Hubei (China) and Elkmont, Alabama (U.S.).
2007 : Electricfil celebrates its 70th anniversary
- A new technology appears, linear position sensors (LVDT) for automatic-transmission applications.
2008 : Launch of the Smart Battery Sensor
- An innovative product serving the new needs of automobile manufacturers.
