On each site, production covers a number of processes (metal cutting, plastic molding, extrusion, assembly, tests, etc.) that are arranged in the workshops according to product or customer criteria. To reduce lead times while improving quality, the company has adopted the Lean manufacturing approach in which several processes are organized in production lines or, increasingly, in work cells. To enhance proximity with customers, production units have been set up in Europe, Turkey, the U.S. and China.
A major goal of the decentralized supply chain is to reduce lead times. Flows are "pulled" by each customer whose production lines are supplied directly from Electricfil Automotive production sites. Intermediate storage facilities offering no added value are not required. The group has set up a logistics system that is advanced, yet simple and diversified, that combines both international and local sourcing.
Job turnover figures for the well-trained industrial teams are very low. Employees are motivated to build the future of the company and by the possibility of acquiring versatile know-how and working in autonomous production units.
The company is financially independent and can look to the mid and long term. The teams are free to undertake effective measures to continually improve quality. Electricfil has one of the best order fill ratios in the business and an excellent customer return ratio (ICARE survey). The goal for tomorrow is to firmly establish the Lean approach and to continue investing in state-of-the-art manufacturing processes.
