An NTC thermistor is used to measure the oil temperature.
A thermistor is a resistor used to measure a change in
temperature via the related change in resistance. For an
NTC (negative temperature coeffi cient) thermistor, the
resistance decreases with increasing temperature. A power supply is required, usually 5 volts fed through a load resistance to limit the current inside the sensor to 1 mA. PT100 or PT1000 sensors are also available to provide a faster response and higher resolution and accuracy.
